From Pastor Paul

Thank you for the gracious welcome that you have given to me and to my wife, Ann, as we are being blended into Peace. Thanks also to the leaders of the congregation who are doing so much to help me become acquainted and settled in.

The plan is for me to be in Springfield for long weekends. Depending upon the schedule of meetings and other matters that need pastoral presence, I'll usually drive to Springfield on Thursday or Friday and return to New Haven sometime on Tuesday. Since pastoral ministry is never a 9 to 5 job, we expect some flexibility in the times I work, but the average will be 40 plus hours each long weekend.

My cell phone number is 217/316-9399. Please call me in case of an emergency such as hospitalization or accident. Phone me anytime whether I am in Springfield or in New Haven, MO. When I am in New Haven, we'll decide whether I should come to Springfield immediately, or I will phone Pastor Moorman who is ready to provide pastoral care. My e-mail address is: prpsps7@gmail.com.

My wife Ann has responsibilities with two volunteer groups in New Haven, so she will not be able to come to Springfield two weekends a month. Like many other couples with two different careers, we have experienced a commuter marriage more than once, and we can do it again.

I really appreciate the attentive listening that you have done as I have preached these first weekends. My top two priorities are: preaching in worship and pastoral care of people. Regarding pastoral care, please call me when you or a family member has a need. Regarding preaching, I like to publish in advance my sermon titles and the scripture texts on which they are based. This practice improves my preaching and your listening. I encourage you to read the Biblical text and the sermon title before you come to worship. Then think and pray about what the message from God for you might be.
