Parish Education Committee


The Committee on Parish Education shall be responsible for the Christian education of adults, youth and children in this congregation.
a. Establish objectives, set policies, and supervise education programs in this congregation.
b. Encourage active expression of Christian love and concern as an integral part of the total education program.
c. Approve curricula and review all educational programs to assure opportunities are provided for all age groups.
d. Maintain an accounting system to determine member participation (by age group) in the education programs and to follow up on the uninvolved.
e. Establish a Youth Subcommittee for the spiritual growth of those in middle school through high school.
f. Recruit, in conjunction with the Evangelism Committee, participants for educational programs.
g. Encourage individuals to enter the ministry.
h. Encourage participation in the Synodically Authorized Ministry (SAM) program offered by the Synod.
i. Promote Bible study.
j. Promote the spiritual health, welfare and training of the educational staff.
k. Recognize faithful service by all persons in parish education.
l. Encourage parents as teachers in Christian education.
m. Provide for the Christian education of individuals with special needs.
n. Develop and maintain a Christian oriented multi-media library.
o. Review suggestions by the Synod and ELCA education departments.
p. Support the educational ministry of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA) by supplying curriculum.
q. Interview, in consultation with the pastor, and make recommendations, concerning employment of nursery attendant(s).
r. Supervise the nursery attendant(s).
s. Recommend to the Finance Committee annual salary and benefit adjustments for the nursery attendant(s).
